Sexy, jungle-clad plunge pools, sizzling sunsets and azure seas await lovers in Bali. On this island of balmy weather, romance oozes from dazzling natural wonders, enhanced by seductive architecture and world-class hotels, spas and restaurants. These Bali honeymoon destinations offer the sensual backdrops you’re looking for, and so much more.

Diving Deep in Pemutaran

When only a dive destination will satisfy your romantic soul, go off the beaten tourist path and stay in eco-friendly Pemutaran. This isolated corner of far northwestern Bali is a stepping-off point to the wall dives at nearby Menjangan Island. Due to excellent marine regeneration projects, offshore reefs are a good option as well.

The laidback town is free from hawkers and overt signs of tourism. It’s the type of place where you stroll from your hidden villa to the main street, dine with Bob Marley tunes, head to the tranquil beach for a swim and a sunset cocktail, then repeat. You won’t find much nightlife here, but if you’re looking for a serene couple’s escape away from the crowds – but close to dive sites – Pemutaran is the spot for you.

Tropical Times on the Gili Islands

When all you want to do is dive in turquoise seas, take leisurely strolls or cycle around the coast and lounge on the sand, take a short boat trip to one of the three Gili Islands. They’re not technically part of Bali. However, these paradise islands are so close, and so postcard pretty, that they’re certainly worth the trip for beach lovers.

Dive sites include Shark Point, Turtle Heaven and Deep Turbo, where you’ll spot reef sharks, barracuda and, of course, huge green turtles. For accommodation, each island offers its own special character. If you love a party scene mixed with your romance, stay on Gili Trawangan. Gili Air offers a local vibe, sleepy bars and beautiful island walks, while Gili Meno is blessed with remote beaches and little development.

Beach Bliss in Uluwatu

Hop on a scooter to wind through lush, hilly roads that lead to some of Bali’s most spectacular beaches, in Uluwatu. Located on the Butik peninsular, this is a land of soaring cliffs framing reef breaks that attract pro surfers from across the globe. Swim in the protected, aqua waters of Padang Padang Beach, find a secluded rock pool near sweeping Balangan Beach or settle in for local food and people-watching along the narrow cliff top paths of Bingin Beach.

As far as Bali honeymoon destinations go, you’ll find resorts and restaurants with sunset views to melt your heart. For an upscale choice, the Anantara Uluwatu Bali Resort offers an infinity pool with panoramic views and private, outdoor Jacuzzis. Dining doesn’t come much more romantic than at El Kabron Spanish Restaurant, with lounges by the cliff top pool, chilled-out DJ beats and succulent, Mediterranean cuisine.

Jungle Journeys in Ubud

If you’re a yoga-loving couple, look no further then Ubud. The cultural and spiritual heart of Bali combines an ever-changing menu of wellness options with lush jungles, picturesque rice fields and crumbling temples. Organic food and healthy living abounds, in streets lined with butterfly-strewn gardens, creative artists and smiling faces.

You’ll also find some of the most seductive resorts you’re ever likely to see, built to align with nature and boasting views of river rapids, cheeky monkeys and exquisite jungle-fringed pools. Hanging Gardens of Bali is set high in the tropical rainforest, with villa plunge pools perched above the valley and the mighty Ayung River. Staying here is like entering your own private garden of Eden, and one you’ll never want to leave.

No matter where you choose to go in ‘The Land of the Gods’, a honeymoon in Bali ensures romance accompanies every step you take.
